PvE/PvP weekend event idea
I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but whatever. >.>
I was reading in another thread about how people feel there are too many PvP or PvE weekends. Some say that there should be more of one/less of the other, etc.
If people want weekend events for their playstyle that much, why not run simultaneous events for PvP and PvE every weekend?
For example: (these are examples---I hardly care about what they could turn out to be)
2x GvG weekend/2X Gwen faction one week
2x HA/2x SS+LB the next
2x Glad/ 2x Cap Xp
(etc)
Anyways, flame away. >.>

One last thing: don't be a ****bag and pull a "/notsigned, you suck." Say why you don't like it if you don't like it.

More work than ArenaNet would do, IMO. It would be nice though.

Its bad enough lag when only 1 event is on, running 2 at once (While not bringing 2x the players) will still result in a lot more players.
Besides that would mean you have much bigger gaps between events or Anet does twice as many, which seems very unlikely.

err... isn't the whole point of increased rewards so that more ppl play in one particular area....
hence reducing wait times, and improving the ease of finding a party?
If you reward every activity... that just means ppl will helterskelter through all the activities, and you just get a boring old ordinary wkend, aside from the double points.

honestly whoever at anet who picks these events suck and has a pvp preferance.
Holiday event are not pve event, they are both, gamer title is a pvp title. Also i can think of two weekend events that should be stopped, double xp for cap sig (honestly do we need any more skill points) and triple dye weekend (is dye that hard to come by)
This idea would bring more balance and make whoever picks these events actually think about them.

Don't need more lag. Plus, as someone said, more work than Anet would care to put in.

How many more PvE special events have there been compared to PvP ones? At least 3 times as many.

learn2count
I'll start the count starting at june, Notice May only had one event for whole month, I assume bad bookkeeping
PvP only events: 14
PvE only events: 9
Events with PvP and PvE content: 5
Mostly Anet think festival are pve only content. They are not, most have pvp events that give gamers points, this is pvp content.

2x HA weekends further lower the Hero Title's good points.
Same for 2x Glad and 2x GvG.

ShadowMoon Snowball fights and Beetle racing is not PvP, its mini games for fun. Stop being a PvE elitist

The resons above are correct, they do a HA bonus weekend to get more folks to PvP that weekend if they added a "Bonus Drop" weekend the same time it's not really going to change much of the crowds at all. PvPer would still PvP and PvEers would still PvE.
Anyway this is a fail idea.
Also ShadowMoon how bout you PM me your address and I'll mail you some gift certificates to BooHooger King so you can get a Whaa Burger and some French Cries.

Erm, no. The weekends have been far more PvE oriented. The only thing PvPers really have going is:
Double Fame/Balth Weekend
Double Champ Point/Balth Weekend
While AB is a form of PvP it is not in my mind associated with PvP in terms of HA and GvG, seeing as the REAL objective of AB is to control points on the map.
Hero battles are not PvP in my mind.
PvE weekends are pretty much anything beyond the 2 I listed for PvP.

If this is suppossed to mean something along the lines of "Well rank doesn't mean skill now!"
It never has.
If rank was the END ALL of player skill, why would ANet have double fame weekends, which we know people will use to farm up some fame with more "gimmicky" style builds. It wouldn't make sense for ANet to say "All your hard work skilled people is now null and void LOL". See my point?

The events are meant to focus people in something, so it's easier to find people to do something.
GvG weekend? Easier to get people to do GvG, double XP when capturing? Easir to get people to cap.
So, it is not needed two have one PvE and one PvP. Just one is good.

Ok, if we have a double fame weekend once a month, everyone and their brother will eventually have R3, at least, and the whole "rank-biased LFG" in HA will mean nothing.
If we have a Double Champ weekend once a month, the Champion title will mean nothing, because anyone who has connections to a guild in champ range will have Champ 1 by paraspiking or some other gayness.
Calling Beetle Racing and Snowball fights "PvP" is very generous, I personally would not call them PvP, at all. They're just minigames. Stop being a PvE Elitist, imo.

The problem isn't with event selection. The problem is selfish players who whine about the weekend event because it doesn't serve any purpose for them.

I could be wrong here but I am pretty sure you have just called anyone that has argued for equality selfish.
How would having a system that gives equal representation to both pvp and pve be a negative? I agree I don’t like the OP system of both pve and pvp every weekend but I still feel they should be equal.

Well, this is the closest thread to what I wanted to say so I am posting here in the hope that some one at Anet will read it.
First, I will admit that I am a PvE Player. If I had my way PvP would be eleminated from the game as it is of no interest to me at all. That considered I am willing to meet everyone half way and live and let live. If people want to PvP let them. I suspect the real reason they support PvP so much better than PvE is most people do not want to PvP so Anet tries to give as much insentive as possible to get people into these areas. After all they spent a fortune inventing them and they cannot let their creations just die. Any one been to Aspenwood lately if you get my drift.
There are more PvP weekends than PvE. All holiday events are counted as PvE even though they have lots of PvP content as in Dragon Arena and Rollarbeetle and snowball fights and more. What PvP weekend had and support for PvE. Basically I think they should discount holiday and festivals as PvE or PvP and admit they are both. Then if we must PvP on weekends, every other one outside of festivals and party would be fair.
I was very disapointed there were no quests at the birthday party. I felt that this omition made it a PvP weekend and not a PvE one. These festivals and holidays become a farm fest and you get upset when we farm too much, but we need to collect the stuff for the collectors and traders.

I like the idea in concept as it would "in theory" please everyone. But the lag hell involved would make it a miserable weekend.

Of course, I try to support ideas that might pull this game away from the ever-hungry jaws of triteness.
